Some weddings are memorable because of their color palette. Others are memorable because of a single design decision that ties everything together.

For this Bel-Air Bay Club wedding, that decision was committing almost entirely to white and blush Oriental lilies for a design that felt both contemporary and timeless.

Rather than incorporating dozens of flower varieties, we embraced a modern monobloom approach, allowing one flower to create impact through repetition, scale, and thoughtful placement. The result felt clean, cohesive, and luxurious—proof that sometimes the strongest designs come from knowing exactly what to leave out.

The Design Vision

From the beginning, the goal was to create something that felt modern and refined with a little twist.

When working with lilies, restraint is everything. By focusing on a limited palette of white and blush Oriental lilies and repeating them throughout the celebration, we created a floral story that felt intentional from start to finish.

Another aspect of this wedding that made it especially meaningful was that the couple was planning from Florida.

Every aspect of the planning and design process happened remotely, which made trust an essential part of the experience. From the beginning, they fully embraced the vision and trusted our team to guide the floral direction, allowing us to focus on creating a cohesive design rather than simply selecting individual arrangements.

As a designer, that level of trust allows us to do our best work. It creates space for thoughtful decision-making and often results in a wedding that feels more intentional, personal, and beautifully executed.

Instead of relying on a mix of blooms to create interest, we leaned into the natural beauty of the lilies themselves—their scale, movement, texture, and dramatic blooms. The monobloom approach gave the entire wedding a sense of confidence and cohesion while maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic.

Why Bel-Air Bay Club Was the Perfect Setting

Perched above the Pacific Ocean in Pacific Palisades, Bel-Air Bay Club provided the ideal backdrop for this floral-forward celebration.

The venue’s timeless architecture, coastal setting, and understated elegance allowed the flowers to take center stage without ever feeling overwhelming. Because the space already carries so much natural beauty, we were able to keep the floral palette intentionally focused and let the design speak for itself.

The result felt effortless.

A Floral Chuppah Overlooking the Pacific

One of the most memorable design elements of the day was the floral chuppah urn installation created for the couple’s Jewish wedding ceremony overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Designed with masses of white and blush Oriental lilies, the structure felt architectural while still remaining romantic in nature. The generous scale of the blooms created a strong visual presence while still allowing the ocean backdrop to remain part of the experience.

As guests arrived and took their seats, the chuppah immediately established the design language for the entire celebration. It was modern, floral-forward, and intentionally restrained—a perfect reflection of the wedding as a whole.

One of my favorite things about this installation was its simplicity. There was no need for multiple flower varieties or excessive embellishment. The impact came from repetition, scale, and allowing beautiful flowers to do what they do best.

Framed by sweeping views of the Pacific, the chuppah served as both a meaningful ceremonial structure and a striking focal point, seamlessly blending tradition with the couple’s modern aesthetic.

Carrying the Floral Story into the Reception

The monobloom concept continued throughout the reception, creating a seamless transition from ceremony to celebration.

The centerpieces featured white and blush Oriental lilies accented with textural grasses that introduced movement and an organic quality to the design. The grasses softened the arrangements and added a contemporary edge that kept the overall look feeling fresh and unexpected. Ivory pillar candles of all sizes were placed meticulously down the center of the reception tables, and the combination between the centerpieces and candles left a visual result that was striking.

Guests may not consciously notice that level of consistency, but they feel it. It’s one of the details that separates a beautiful wedding from a truly cohesive one.

Why Simplicity Creates Impact

As a designer, I’m always drawn to weddings that fully commit to a concept.

One thing I often tell couples is that luxury doesn’t necessarily come from adding more.

In many cases, it comes from editing.

This Bel-Air Bay Club wedding is a perfect example. Rather than incorporating dozens of flower varieties and competing focal points, we committed to a single floral story and executed it intentionally throughout the celebration. The impact came not from variety, but from abundance, repetition, and thoughtful design decisions.

Hundreds of white and blush Oriental lilies transformed the space into something that felt modern, sophisticated, and entirely unique to the couple. When we added in the ivory pillar candles en masse, the vision was complete.

It’s a wedding I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
