As a wedding florist based in the Merced area, I’ve had the privilege of designing at some truly special properties across the region — from lavender farms in Turlock to hilltop estates in Oakdale. I know these venues from the inside out, and I’m sharing my honest take on each one, including what they’re like to work with and what floral design tends to shine in each space.

1. Quincy Lake Farm, Oakdale, CA
Quincy Lake Farm feels like a little slice of Napa-esque countryside magic tucked right here in the Central Valley. The lake and waterfall feature are highlights that so many couples love to use for photos — and when the sun sets behind the water and everything turns peachy pink, it is genuinely one of the most beautiful ceremony backdrops I’ve seen in this region.
Cocktail hour works beautifully on the patio or in the breezeway, with a tucked-away intimate corner perfect for a lounge setup. The barn reception space is more refined than you might expect, it reminds me heavily of Stanly Ranch in Napa, rustic but elevated, with custom stonework, massive custom metal doors with patina, and full A/C. The getting ready suite has a full salon space and a balcony overlooking the lake. Jo is the on-site coordinator and she is completely on top of it.
As a wedding florist who has designed at Quincy Lake Farm, I love working with loose, organic, garden-inspired arrangements here — textural and a little wild, echoing the natural surroundings. I’m also manifesting a floral chandelier over the dance floor out here, so if that’s your vision, I’m your girl.

2. Pageo Lavendar Farm, Turlock, CA
This venue holds a special place in my heart — I actually got married here in 2019. The lavender rows are fragrant and stunning when blooming (around May, though I’d confirm with the venue directly), and the mature landscaping with tall trees and climbing ivy gives the whole property this incredible hidden garden quality that photographs like a dream.
At the Pageo Lavender Farm wedding venue, you can choose between an indoor or outdoor reception. Indoors, you’re in a modern French-inspired space with tall ceilings and gorgeous natural light through glass doors. Outdoors, you’re under a canopy of string lights woven through those mature trees — once the sun goes down it is absolutely magical. They have a wonderful team of coordinators and now offer in-house catering, which makes the planning process so much easier.
As a Turlock wedding florist who has designed at Pageo multiple times, I find that romantic, lush florals feel most at home here — though the natural charm of the space is versatile enough to go in almost any aesthetic direction.

3. Carter Valley Ranch, Oakdale, CA
Vista views for days. Carter Valley Ranch sits on a hilltop with rolling pastures and farmland stretching in every direction, and the white barn interior has a cool modern California aesthetic — large minimalist black chandeliers, a statement window wall, and a glass slider wall that opens onto a cocktail patio with incredible views.
From a floral design standpoint, this is one of my favorite venues in the region because it’s a true blank canvas. The natural beauty of the setting is strong enough that you can take the design in almost any direction — lush and romantic, sleek and modern, wild and organic — and it all lands beautifully.
As an Oakdale wedding florist, Carter Valley Ranch is one I always get excited to work at. The scale of the space also lends itself to larger installations if that’s on your wish list.

4. Spring Creek Golf and Country Club, Ripon, CA
For couples dreaming of classic, timeless elegance, Spring Creek is genuinely rare in the Central Valley. The manicured golf course greens and towering mature oak trees create a ceremony backdrop that feels like old money done right — understated, curated, and stunning. All catering and bartending is in-house, and the service is impeccable. I attended a family wedding here with a full plated dinner service and it was top notch from start to finish.
If refined, classic elegance is your aesthetic, this venue often gets overlooked and it absolutely should not be.

5. Private Residences
If you have access to a truly beautiful family or friend’s property, there is nothing more personal or customizable than hosting your wedding at home — but I want to be real with you here. If an elevated, polished guest experience is your goal, please hire a wedding planner. There are too many moving parts to manage solo, and too many unexpected costs — tenting, power, restroom facilities, rain contingencies — that simply don’t exist at a turnkey venue. It’s not the budget option people assume it is.
That said, when it works, it works beautifully. And as a florist, designing at a private property where the world is truly your oyster is one of my favorite creative challenges.

6. Del Rio Country Club, Modesto, CA
Del Rio Country Club is one of the few venues in the Central Valley that gives couples the opportunity to host a truly beautiful tented wedding. Their expansive lawn provides plenty of space to bring in a sailcloth Sperry style or clear top tent, creating a wedding that feels elevated and completely custom. If you’ve been saving photos of tented receptions in Napa or Sonoma but want to stay closer to home, Del Rio is one of the best places locally to make that vision happen. Combined with the mature trees, manicured grounds, and experienced in house catering team, it’s an excellent option for couples wanting an outdoor celebration with a timeless feel. Del Rio Country Club also has two large banquet rooms that can be joined together into one large room for large weddings.

7. Galletto Ristorante, Modesto, CA
If you’re planning a more intimate wedding, Galletto is one of my favorite hidden gems in the Central Valley. Their covered vine arbor patio is enclosed, heated, and feels surprisingly private—creating an atmosphere that’s romantic year round without having to worry about the weather. But the real standout here is the food. It is genuinely some of the best food I’ve had in the Modesto area, and that’s something your guests will remember long after the day is over. For couples hosting around 80 guests or fewer who value an incredible dining experience just as much as a beautiful setting, Galletto is hard to beat. The restaurant’s Vine Arbor Patio was designed specifically for outdoor dining and private events, while the kitchen is known for its scratch-made Northern Italian cuisine.

8. Vista Ranch & Cellars, Merced, CA
Vista Ranch has one of the most naturally beautiful ceremony settings in Merced County. Towering oak trees, vineyards, gardens, and peaceful water views make the property feel tucked away, despite being just minutes from town. It’s the kind of venue that offers a little bit of everything without feeling overly formal. I especially love how much greenery surrounds the property, making it a beautiful backdrop for lush, garden-inspired floral design. With on-site catering, a getting-ready house, and multiple ceremony and reception locations, Vista Ranch is an excellent all-in-one option for couples looking for a relaxed yet elevated wedding experience.

9. Evanelle Vineyards, Madera, CA
While Evanelle is a bit farther south than many of the venues on this list, it’s absolutely worth the drive. Designed to capture the feeling of a Tuscan countryside estate, the property combines vineyard views with clean, modern architecture, creating a venue that feels unlike anything else in the Central Valley. I especially love that it gives couples a sophisticated, European-inspired backdrop while still being close enough for local guests to easily make the trip. If you’re looking for something that feels elevated and a little unexpected, Evanelle is a fantastic find.

10. Wine & Roses, Lodi, CA
While technically just north of what many consider Central California, Wine & Roses is too good not to include on this list. The property feels more like a boutique resort than a traditional wedding venue, with lush gardens, towering trees, and beautifully landscaped grounds throughout. Between the luxury accommodations, on-site spa, and exceptional dining, it offers a full wedding weekend experience that’s difficult to find elsewhere in the region. If you’re open to traveling a little farther north, Wine & Roses is absolutely worth considering.
